A Word from Mike…
Jeremiah 29.11-12 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. 12Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.
On June 2nd of 2013, I started my first Sunday as the senior minister of FCC, Midwest City, OK. How gracious of a church you are, to accept one with limited experience as a senior minister, and to offer me nurture and grace in the process.
Recently, I was approached by a regional minister in the Christian Church of the Southwest, to consider my interest in ministering a potential church. The church reaching out to me was not just any congregation, but the congregation that sponsored my ordination, and helped to pay for my seminary education. They had reached out previously and I had declined. This time, I asked for time to consider things prayerfully.
After praying that God would open and close doors in obvious ways, I feel that God has called me to re-invest in the church that has invested so much in my beginning.
The appropriate church leadership have known of the release of my Search and Call papers for some time now. They are connected with the regional staff and are working on the appropriate plan of action. I can honestly say that I think our church is a place great of opportunity and it has a positive future.
I want to express my appreciation for all this congregation has done to support me. This church has not only helped me be a better person, but to grow as a minister. The remaining time we have together will be negotiated between the elders and myself. I thank each of you for your support and your shared ministry; You have been a blessing.
Thanks for sharing the journey,
Sunday Evening, September 2nd, we will not meet.
Enjoy the Labor Day holiday weekend with your friends and family!
