A Word From Mike…

When All Is Said and Done…

2 Timothy 2.1-2     You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus; 2and what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well.

2017 is coming to a close.  Christmas has come and gone.  Counting all of our services, I have preached more than 100 sermons!  Go me, right!?!  Wrong.  The purpose of those sermons is not about me; in truth, preaching is only a part of it.  If those sermons don’t have any “legs;” if those sermons don’t continue as a teaching that challenges people to learn more and to share more, then the full purpose of those sermons has not been achieved.

The title above is one from a mid-90’s Christian song, sung by Geoff Moore & the Distance.  They often closed their concerts with this particular song.  The lyrics have stuck with me over the years.  The first verse includes the following words:

When the music fades into the past
When my days of life are through
What will be remembered where I’ve come
When all is said and done.

This year, I have been reminded of how much we all need each other, to truly be the church.  God has blessed me to be a contributor, but watching others contribute has been a great blessing as well.  Thank you First Christian Church for being a collection of many witnesses, and a faithful people.

Thanks for sharing the journey,

FCC Youth

On Wednesday Evening, December 27th, There will be Wednesday night Youth Group. We will potentially go take a fun trip depending on our numbers! Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the lesson will start at 6:30. On Sunday Evening, December 31st, We will not be meeting so that you can enjoy New Year’s Eve with your family.

Youth Committee:
Hello all, I am interested in building up a team of adult volunteers to help on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings. If you are interested in hanging out during Youth Group, leading Sunday School, or leading a home group on Sunday evenings, please do not hesitate to let me know!

If you know anyone who might be interested in joining us,
please give me a call! I would love to reach out to them!

Our “Emergency Food Kits” have been a big success for the last two years because of the love and generosity of the people in our Church Family. Now that winter is approaching, we are asking for your help once again. In order that none of our clients go without food, because we are unable to deliver due to bad weather, we will be preparing “Emergency Food Kits” again this year. These kits will consist of non-perishable food items for two to three meals. We have 53 clients, 13 of those clients are diabetic. Please help us with these kits by donating some of the items below.

We will be collecting food items starting Dec 17 through Dec 31. There will be a collection box in the Narthex marked “Mobile Meals Emergency Food Kits”.

Items needed are: Canned Soups, canned ravioli, canned meats (i.e. tuna, chicken, ham), Cup ‘O’ Noodles, microwaveable macaroni and cheese cups, packaged peanut butter or cheese crackers, fruit cups, pudding cups, individually packaged cookies, Ensure, or any non-perishable food item that can be eaten cold or easily heated. Please remember some of the desserts need to be sugar free for our diabetic clients.

Your donations will be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Dottie Tucker at 610-6959 or 919-4589(cell).
