 A Word from Mike…

Colossians 3.12      As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

What a gift for us to be able to host Major Stacie McWilliams and her husband Major Thomas McWilliams.  A Salvation Army phrase I love states, “Heart to God, Hand to Man (humankind).”  Stacie did a wonderful job speaking about the value of sincere compassion and being a tangible presence of God in our world.  While I had heard of Salvation Army founder William Booth, I was not aware of the depth of personal sacrifice he made to connect with people where they were, as they were.  The stories Stacie shared left quite an impression on me.

During this season of Lent, I hope all of us can focus on having the mindset of Christ that is followed with an act of kindness.  The opportunities are plentiful and all of us have been equipped to share.

Thanks for sharing the journey,

**On an additional note, wasn’t it wonderful to hear a female preach and preach well?!? What a great witness for our congregation!

Adult volunteers are needed to help in the nursery on Sunday mornings. It could be a parent, a grandparent or anyone who loves children! For security purposes a background check at the expense of the church would be required. The more eyes and hands watching and caring for the children, the better! Our utmost concern is for their happiness and well-being.

You can sign up for a particular Sunday or the entire month. If you have any questions please call the Personnel Chair, Johnnie Gasaway at 808-7343 or the church office at 769-2717.

Stewardship Department Meeting, February 20 at 6:00 pm

We can all agree, FCC is a beautiful church!

To our members, it’s a peaceful refuge to worship and fellowship.

To our visitors, it’s their first impression of us as a church family.

As with any facility, it takes a lot work to keep things up to date and running smoothly to maintain God’s house for his family. If you would be interested in helping, please contact David Brubaker (405) 259-8014, or the church office (405) 769-2717.

Dinners For Eight

A grass roots demand has made the ever popular “Dinners for Eight” viable again! In the dark about this fun event? Let’s get enlightened. Eight folks (not always four “couples”) gather for a meal about once a month. It can be in a home, at a restaurant or a picnic table in a park. The two hosts pick the venue, an agreeable time and date and, perhaps, a fun activity. The key is to mix and match outside your circle of friends and people you know. Sign up in the office. Hope to start in March.
