A Word from Mike…

The Empty Chair…

If you look in our sanctuary today, you will see a bench with a decorative pillow sitting in front of the communion table.  The evangelism department and I are hoping that this “empty chair” will be a reminder, throughout Lent, of who YOU might invite to come visit our church.

Wait…let me rephrase that thought.  While it is a good thing to invite people to our church, WHY do we invite people to our church?  We want to grow, right?  Why do we want to grow?

A growing church is not necessarily evidence of a Godly church, and being a Godly church is our goal.   The empty chair placed at the communion table is meant to remind us that when we bring a guest, what we are really doing is inviting them join us as we commune with God.  We are inviting them to encounter the grace of God, as symbolized in Holy Communion.

Therefore, let us pray that God will open our eyes, and give us the courage to be open doors for those God is calling to be a part of our church.

Thanks for sharing the journey,

Our Youngest Members Need Your Help!

Adult volunteers are needed to help in the nursery on Sunday mornings. It could be a parent, a grandparent or anyone who loves children! For security purposes a background check at the expense of the church would be required. The more eyes and hands watching and caring for the children, the better! Our utmost concern is for their happiness and well-being.

You can sign up for a particular Sunday or the entire month. If you have any questions please call the Personnel Chair, Johnnie Gasaway at 808-7343 or the church office at769-2717.—————————————

March 11th at 9:45 am there will

be a brief meeting to discuss a potential

Fall Adult Disciples History Trip.

Be watching in the newsletter for more

details before the meeting.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

will be here soon!

Sunday, March 25 at 3 pm

Crafts, Puppet Show and Food

We are doing things a little differently this year and holding it on Palm Sunday afternoon.  We are asking for donations of individually wrapped candies (no chocolate please – it melts!) and empty plastic, colored eggs. Look for the Easter Egg Hunt donation box in the narthex! We are looking forward to a fun event for our church and our community!

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with the weekly newsletter. A team is needed to come in on Tuesday mornings to prepare the newsletter for bulk mailing. The process takes about an hour each week and includes folding, labeling and bundling by area. It can be done any time that morning as long as it’s ready to go to the post office by noon. If you might be interested, please call the church office 769-2717. Thank you!

We can all agree,
FCC is a beautiful church!

To our members, it’s a peaceful refuge to worship and fellowship.

To our visitors, it’s their first impression of us as a church family.

As with any facility, it takes a lot work to keep things up to date and running smoothly to maintain God’s house for his family. If you would be interested in helping, please contact David Brubaker (405) 259-8014, or the church office(405) 769-2717.
