A Word From Mike…

Psalm 62.5-8
5 For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my deliverance and my honor;
my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.

This Psalm was a part of the lectionary reading for yesterday, for those of you familiar with the three-year cycle for lectionary readings and preaching (Year A, B, and C).  As we have been studying the life of Abraham in recent weeks we are reminded of what a refuge God proved to be, when the family of Abraham remembered to look to God for their hope.  As we consider the blessing of our church over the decades and the blessings yet to come, may falsehoods be put aside and may truth, hope and trust guide us.  With God as our refuge, what blessings await us as individuals…what blessings await us as a congregation!

Thanks for sharing the journey,

**Please be saying extra prayers for Dustin.  He has broken part of his wrist and as of the printing of this bulletin, has an appointment on Tuesday to set a time for surgery.  I am sure he might even appreciate some food 🙂

There’s a new sign up sheet in the narthex, for volunteers to provide the Youth meal on Wednesday nights. Thank you for your continued support of our students!

Dinners For Eight

A grass roots demand has made the ever popular “Dinners for Eight” viable again! In the dark about this fun event? Let’s get enlightened. Eight folks (not always four “couples”) gather for a meal about once a month. It can be in a home, at a restaurant or a picnic table in a park. The two hosts pick the venue, an agreeable time and date and, perhaps, a fun activity. The key is to mix and match outside your circle of friends and people you know. Sign up in the office. Hope to start in March.

Dear FCC friends,

Thank you for the outpouring of love and support that you have shown to me over the past three weeks. The flowers, cards, help in the office and especially your prayers helped more than you know. Thank you to Mike for bringing my family lunch the day Mom passed. Thank you to those who were able to attend Mom’s service and share that special time with me and my family. This truly is a church filled with people who are serving the Lord and each other. What a blessing and a privilege it is to be able to have a small part in it.

Thank you again,
Nancy Harkey and the family of June Wall
