Have you noticed the empty bench that has been placed in front of our communion table? It is a reminder to us there are people we should invite to fill the seats in our sanctuary. The Bible contains many passages about sharing the good news of Christ.

How do we summon the courage and the words to invite someone to church? Most of us seem to be able to suggest meeting our friends for lunch, a day of golf or shopping, or an evening at the theater. What makes it so hard for us to suggest visiting our church?

Are we hesitant about what the reaction will be to our invitation? Will they say, “No”? Yet, haven’t we all had times when friends turn down our invitations? Don’t we usually try again another time?

What if they accept the invitation? Are we anxious about their visit? Will guest feel comfortable and welcome in our church? Will they like the people they meet? Will they enjoy our music? Will they relate to our service and the message they hear?

Stop thinking about your doubts! Offer your invitation with a prayerful and faithful heart. Give your guests an opportunity to meet God in our church. Turn the outcome of your invitation over to Him in whom all things are possible. Relax and enjoy your time of worship with our guests.

Take the plunge. Ask someone to visit our church this week!

Prayerfully,
Marty Howard
Evangelism Department Chair

For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him?

hours into building and organizing the
church’s library and they are ready to pass the responsibility to someone else. It could be one person or a team of people! If you would be interested in taking on this task, please contact the church office.
Thank you!

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with the weekly newsletter. A team is needed to come in on Tuesday mornings to prepare the newsletter for bulk mailing. The process takes about an hour each week and includes folding, labeling and bundling by area. It can be done any time that morning as long as it’s ready to go to the post office by noon.
