A Word From Mike…

Jeremiah 17.7   Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.

It is nice to have a lucky day…..when you remember that it is truly an indication of a blessed day.

Ever pick up a bad habit of saying words that you have given little thought to?  God has blessed me with the addition of Rev. Lee Nirschl (and Mary!!) as not only a church member, but as a mentor, in his role as a retired minister.  Often in sermons, or in casual conversation, I would say, “I feel so lucky”…followed by the words that really held authentic meaning for me.  Lee continues to remind me about the importance of the authenticity of the rest of that sentence.  Lee would say to me, “You are not lucky; you are blessed.”

In my daily life, I have tried to embrace Lee’s words of wisdom.  God has blessed me in so many ways; when I insert the word “luck,” I am stealing the credit from God.

As is often the case with wisdom, Lee’s encouragement has led to more insight, beyond his initial reminder.  Often, I depart from others saying “have a great day, night or weekend.”  What I need to get into the habit of saying is, “have a blessed day, night or weekend.”  First, because I really do want them to be blessed in that time; and second, because I also want to raise the awareness of others as to how God is blessing their lives.

I pray each of you have a fully blessed week, and that you take the time to recognize those blessings.

Thanks for sharing the journey,

FCC Youth

These can be homemade or store bought. We ask that they are broken down into smaller portions some we can give more away. For example divide a dozen cupcakes into two separate containers. Baked goods can be dropped off on Sunday Oct 29th before or after church to the kitchen in the JCAC. You can also bring them between 4-5pm. If there are any questions please let Melissa Davis or Christi Miller know.
Thank You!!

2018 Giving envelopes will soon be ready to disperse to our members. Just a reminder, we ask everyone to donate $5 towards the cost of this purchase. For 2019, the Stewardship Committee has decided to offer the box sets for our members and not the mailable, booklet style. This change still serves the needs of our congregation, while at the same time reduces cost and eliminates unneeded waste. See Cindy Schaefer if you have any questions.
