A Word from Mike…

WELCOME to our new members Scott and Lori Lange. Scott and Lori are easy to spot on Sundays, as they have custody of their grandchildren Marshall, Hezekiah, Caden and David. Lori is the sister of Brett Moler. Also, they are the proud grandparents of Ritter, first child of Chris and Mona Lange.

MINISTER/YOUTH DIRECTOR UPDATE:
Some of you have asked how our search is going for a new Minister/Youth Director. Our church size is unique in that we are large enough to need full time help, but we do not have the operating budget to pay two full-time ordained clergy. Our current hope is to hire a full time employee who will be a youth director, help lead worship and help with office duties. We currently have three names of potential candidates and we hope to do interviews as soon as possible. Due to the unique nature of the position, a special committee was assigned to conduct interviews. Members of the committee include Dean Holt (Elder Chair), Brett Moler (Personnel Chair), Melissa Davis (Parent) and Rev. Snell.

Thanks for sharing the journey,
Mike

Light a Candle for Children 2016
Prayer Vigil – Week #5

Light a candle for children marks a time in the year when we make a special effort to be intentional about praying and giving thanks for the children in our lives.October 16th we will bring the prayer vigil to a close with the Children’s Sabbath and the Children’s Corner Birthday celebration!  By that time, our church will have its very own pumpkin patch!

Did you know a pumpkin can teach us how to pray for children?  As you turn a pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern, you can pray these five prayers. This is week five.

So this week lets join together in the following prayer:

Week 5:  Your jack-o-lantern is almost ready! Imagine putting a candle inside of it, for all the world to see.

Pray:  Lord, fill them with your light so that others can find their way to you.

Verse:  Matthew 5:14-15  “You are the light of the world. A city built on  a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.”

Children’s Corner
Birthday Party Fundraiser
Sunday, October 16
Immediately following 2nd Worship Service

I’m so excited to announce that Children’s Corner will have a special spotlight on Sunday, October 16th to increase awareness of the program and the ministry it provides to the community.  You will find information about Children’s Corner in the Sunday bulletin and suggested ways you can be involved if you’d like.  I will lead the children’s message where I hope to be able to show off many Children’s Corner kids as they will all be invited and encouraged to attend second service that day!

The service will be immediately followed by a BIRTHDAY PARTY for the Children’s Corner program!  Cookies and Juice pouches will be served, and you will have the opportunity to give monetary gifts toward needed items for Children’s Corner.

Your generous donations make Children’s Corner more affordable to young families and enrich the classroom experience for teachers and children.  Your gifts multiply in unexpected ways and are greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your support,
Molly Updegraff / Children’s Corner Director
