A Pastor’s Perspective
It is always nice to get away! I appreciate the opportunity I had to do that last week, and many thanks to Bradley Havenar and Rev. Shauna Becker for preaching the last two Sundays!
One item of new business at Sunday’s board meeting was to consider a recommendation from the Personnel committee to call a new organist/accompanist. I am happy to report that the Board unanimously approved the motion brought forth to call Evelyn Culver to be part of our music staff! Evelyn is in her final year of undergraduate music studies in piano and organ at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Piano with a minor in Chemistry. Her first Sunday with us will be August 22.
Our Landscaping committee needs your help! Tom has been faithfully working to keep everything growing and trimmed around the church but needs some assistance! He plans on being at the church Tuesday mornings to work, but is also creating a list of projects that can be accomplished at other times! For more information, please call or text tom at 405.226.8140, or you can email him at email@example.com.
Dear FCC Family,
Thank you so very much for the kind outpouring of warmth, love and well-wishes through your calls, cards, emails and gifts. I’m not going to lie – it’s a little overwhelming – but much appreciated. Please know I shall always cherish our time in ministry as we walked these last three years together. God Bless always.

With great fondness, I write to thank you for your wonderful well-wishes, cards, letters, and gifts as I disembark the Good Ship FCC.
It’s more than a little overwhelming to process everything, to be sure. But I am truly grateful for all you have done for me and my family and the many ways you’ve ministered to us. To quote the old Gospel Hymn, you have faithfully reflected the “…deep, deep Love of Jesus…” yes, over the last three years, but even more so recently. For these, and many other reasons, I shall always hold you in my heart and think of you often – even as I read each weekly newsletter and continue to be amazed by your dedication and devotion to Christ’s Kingdom and to the Ministry of Music at FCC.
The world of music (and especially, church music) is quite small. So there’s an old saying in the business: Never say ‘goodbye’ only ‘see you later.’ So …..
See You Later,
Dear First Christian Church,
I cannot say thank you enough for the love and support you have shown me over these past few months, and continue to show me. I am so grateful for every prayer, every card, every gift, every meal, every phone call. Thank you to Gary for navigating the covid rules and coming to the hospital to visit and pray with me.
I am happy to say I am back in the office. My treatments, for the most part, will be in the afternoon. So for the month of August, the office may have to close earlier than 4:00 pm. If you plan to stop by, please call first to make sure someone is here.
Again, thank you so much for loving me unconditionally. You are a wonderful church family and I am blessed to feel a part of it!
