A Pastor’s Perspective
A special thanks to all who helped bring us last Sunday’s online worship experience!  As we navigate the new world we live in, I am thankful for all who pitch in to create these opportunities for us to be in community even when we are unable to be together in person.  Once again, we will worship together online.  I invite you to prepare Communion elements where you are as we will share this time together.  If you don’t have grape juice and bread, be creative!   Jesus used the basic foods of his day…bread and wine.  What do you have in your home that can be transformed into spiritual food and drink?  Here is the link to our YouTube channel:

I hope we can connect this Sunday!  In the meantime, pray for those that you know, and those you don’t know. Pray for those who are taking care of others and putting themselves at risk.  Also, take care of others and yourself. Please do what you need to do to stay healthy, and if you need anything, please let us know!
In this time of uncertainty, it’s easy to become distressed.  I leave you with a few words I hope will help in these troubled times:
Me:   Knock, Knock!
You:  Who’s There?
Me:   A little old lady.
You:  A little old lady who?
Me:  Wow!  I didn’t know you could yodel!
You are welcome!
Remember, stay home if you can, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and know you are not alone!  God gives us great ability to weather the storms of life!

What an unusual time. Although I’ve been listing important dates the last few weeks, this week is different. Different enough to take a break from important dates and future plans. Of course life will go on after this health crisis wanes, but until then, I’d like us to STOP.

Stop and be still & recognize this valuable opportunity to truly experience our unhurried God. Lent is a time to take stock. Get to know our selves & our God. We can squander this unusual time or use it to bless God & others.

For our youth, who are out of school and facing an uncertain return date, I pray you will take this time to reach out to your mentor. A call or a card would go a long way toward creating connection. This is a time when some of our congregation are very isolated and lonely. We are all called to love & bless one another. I hope you all find a way to reach out to others this week. Most importantly, I pray each of us will take time to stop & be still so we can know and love God more!

Blessings to you all during this unusual time.

S.O.A.R. Update from Carol Hamilton
The last two trips to Taft Correctional Facility to carry young people to visit their imprisoned mothers have been cancelled. The March 19, 2020 trip, with Kyle Holland as driver of the church bus and Carol Hamilton as chaperone, was cancelled because of the current prohibition on visits to our state prisons. The fall trip, with Adam Davis and Carol Hamilton, was also cancelled because of statewide prison lockdowns. Thanks to willing drivers, Bryan Searcy for faithful bus preparation, and all who contribute to our funds to make the journeys possible. We pray for the families so long separated and for renewed visits for the summer prison Play Day.
