A PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Monday night our Pandemic Response Group met online to discuss whether or not we will begin in-person worship services this Sunday. The group decided, in light of continuing spikes in the numbers of cases here in central Oklahoma and around the state, that it would be advised to postpone our in-person worship experiences and has set our next hopeful date to be here together on Sunday mornings to Sunday, August 9th. Until then, we will continue our live-stream Sunday mornings at 10 am. Here is the link:
Last Sunday’s drive-in Communion was well received, and the group decided that we should continue to invite everyone to share the elements of the Lord’s Supper each Sunday at 11:30 am. Participants drive up to the South circle drive to receive the elements, go to a parking space, and tune their radios to 93.1 FM. An invitation to the Table, words of institution, prayers and a benediction will follow.
Each and every one of us can’t wait to return to in-person worship, but our goal is to not have FCC be a source of COVID -19. We are thankful for those who help make our live-stream and now our drive-in communion happen each week! Thank you one and all!
Many thanks to our worship team for last Sunday!
After our 10 am livestream, we took our worship outside to our parking lot, where around 40 people experienced our first drive -in Communion experience. Our junior deacons served the elements to persons in each car as they drove up to our circle drives at the front of the church. After that, each car was invited to find a parking place in the parking lots, tune their radio to FM 93.1 and hear prayers, words of institution, and a benediction. For the “amen” of the benediction, participants were asked to honk their horns and flash their lights! Many thanks to those who made this happen!
Worship Leaders and Children’s Moment Leaders Needed! We need persons to be Sunday worship leaders and others to do children’s moments for July and August. Volunteers can be present for the livestream at 10 am Sunday mornings or video their parts and have them to us by Friday each week. I am thankful for those who have been taking on these roles in the past and look forward to having new faces as well!
Join us Sunday mornings at 10 AM for the live streaming service.

The youth had a wonderful mission trip last week! We are so grateful for all of you who loaned us camping and fishing gear! We want to give a special thanks to Mark Reid for the Dutch oven pizza and Beverly Rubino for sponsoring and cooking all week! Thank you Mark and Jamie Benge for coming out and making sure we had everything we need and Gary Mitchell for playing guitar by the campfire and making our worship so meaningful! We are so blessed to have such a supportive church family.
The youth anticipated starting regular Wednesday night meetings back this week, but with the numbers rising so significantly there are a lot of factors to weigh. For the remainder of the summer it has been determined that we will meet every other Wednesday and that we will Wear masks when together. This will be good practice for school. Our youth have the same responsibility as the adults when it comes to safety. We must all consider our families especially those who are in the high-risk categories.
The youth were asked to help with the First drive-through communion. They enjoyed that moment of community and it was clear that the Spirit of God was present in our time together. I am so grateful for the group that we have in youth. These young people are thoughtful and considerate of one another and they have a lot of fun together. The opportunity to take time away and be with them for this concentrated time allowed me to get to know them better. With every youth event, I love each of them even more.
With love and prayers,
