A Pastor’s Perspective

We returned to in-person worship last Sunday.  It had a different appearance than our last worship experience that was held here back in March.  Temperatures were taken.  Everyone wore a mask.  Our hymns and special music were pre-recorded to reduce the possibility of community spread from our singers.  Yet, as always, the Spirit led us to share the love of God.  Our tech crew did a fantastic job of putting recordings and live shots together for our congregation in the sanctuary and for our online livestream.  After that, we set up everything for our drive-in communion at 11:30 am.  Many thanks to all who helped make our first day back happen!

Our sanctuary was graced with new apparel this Sunday as our walls, pulpit, and communion table were dressed with banners and paraments shared with us by our good friends from Midwest Boulevard Christian Church!   A special thanks to the folks at MWBCC and our decorators for their work !

Grace & Peace!

YOUTH NEWS…

The youth group met Wednesday & had some fun before school starts this week. Our pool table and the use of the JCAC are such a blessing! For all of you who have & continue to give to our Capital fund, I hope you know you’re gifts are providing a much needed ministry! Right now especially, our youth need a safe place to be with other kids. Our JCAC provides space for people of all ages to play cards, basketball & gather for Bible study, parties & crafts. Our Congregation continues to put this facility to good use even during this pandemic. Of equal importance, the JCAC provides a safe place for groups outside of our congregation to gather. This is a way to offer hospitality to people we might not otherwise encounter. The congregation of FCC MWC has always been a group willing to offer hospitality to friends & strangers alike! We are so blessed to have each other & our beautiful facilities.

Thank you for all you do for the youth & the kingdom of God!

With love & prayers,
Shauna Becker

  PROMOTION SUNDAY – AUGUST 30th

Hello, church family! As we all know, we’ve been doing things a little differently around here lately, and Promotion Sunday will also be different. I will be putting together a virtual Promotion Sunday program so we can all enjoy our children’s growth at school and in Christ in a safe way.

Parents, would you please email me a picture or a short video (20 second or less) of your child introducing themselves to:  christinadmiller3@gmail.com

1)  Pictures or videos should be individual.
2)  If sending a video, please keep it short!
3)  If sending a video, have your child say their name and what grade they are going into (of if younger, their age).

Please email me your picture or video by Sunday, August 23rd by 5:00 p.m. so I have time to work with my technology expert (the sweet one I married), and we can put our program together to honor our children. I can’t wait to see these!

Thank you for all of your help in making this possible.

Much love,
Christi Miller
