A Word from Mike…

The Empty Chair…       GUILT WITH AN IMPACT

Matthew 28.19-20    Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

I remember being told this story when I was younger:  A man had died and was going up to heaven by escalator.  As he was ascending, another escalator was descending down to hell.  On that escalator, the man saw a close friend headed for hell who asked him, “Why did you never share your faith with me?”

First, I think this story is horribly manipulative, especially when used as an illustration for young people!  God does not need fear theology to share the good news of Christ!

Second, I have to admit it has made a lifelong impact on me. Christ has clearly called us to intentionally share our faith with others, and to teach them how to follow the way of God.

As we continue to have the “empty chair” at the communion table in our sanctuary, we have received the call and the gift to share the good news of Christ.  Who do you know:  Who needs a fresh start? Who is looking for a positive environment to raise their children in? Who needs to know that God loves them?  Who do you know who would benefit from filling the empty chair?

Thanks for sharing the journey,

Sunday, March 11th at 9:45 AM in the sanctuary
We will be as short as possible, but we may cross over into the Sunday School hour. If interested, please make an exception and join us for this one Sunday.

Spring S.O.A.R. trip
March 22nd

Along with other metro area churches, Carol Hamilton helps to coordinate this trip for S.O.A.R. / Supporting Offenders in Achieving Re-Integration. Young people, with adult sponsors, are taken to visit their mothers who are in Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Facility in Taft, Oklahoma. Trips are scheduled throughout the year when schools are on break. Please be in prayer for another successful and safe trip for these families.

Jo & Paul Pettigrew have put many
hours into building and organizing the
church’s library and they are ready to pass the responsibility to someone else. It could be one person or a team of people! If you would be interested in taking on this task, please contact the church office.
Thank you!

Our Youngest Members NeedYour Help!

Adult volunteers are needed to help in the nursery on Sunday mornings. It could be a parent, a grandparent or anyone who loves children! For security purposes a background check at the expense of the church would be required. The more eyes and hands watching and caring for the children, the better! Our utmost concern is for their happiness and well-being.

You can sign up for a particular Sunday or the entire month. If you have any questions please call the Personnel Chair, Johnnie Gasaway at 808-7343 or the church office at 769-2717.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

will be here soon!

Sunday, March 25 at 3 pm

Crafts, Puppet Show and Food

We are doing things a little differently this year and holding it on Palm Sunday afternoon.  We are asking for donations of individually wrapped candies (no chocolate please – it melts!) and empty plastic, colored eggs. Look for the Easter Egg Hunt donation box in the narthex! We are looking forward to a fun event for our church and our community!

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with the weekly newsletter. A team is needed to come in on Tuesday mornings to prepare the newsletter for bulk mailing. The process takes about an hour each week and includes folding, labeling and bundling by area. It can be done any time that morning as long as it’s ready to go to the post office by noon. If you might be interested, please call the church office 769-2717. Thank you!

We can all agree,
FCC is a beautiful church!

To our members, it’s a peaceful refuge to worship and fellowship.

To our visitors, it’s their first impression of us as a church family.

As with any facility, it takes a lot work to keep things up to date and running smoothly to maintain God’s house for his family. If you would be interested in helping, please contact David Brubaker(405) 259-8014, m151dave@gmail.comor the church office (405) 769-2717.
